Abstract = {We present a new technique to investigate the mechanical stability of freestanding rolled-up SiGe/Si microtubes based on nanorobotic manipulation. By applying this technique, the microtubes can be cut and subsequently picked up from the original substrate to examine their mechanical properties in free space or to assemble them into micro-/nanoelectromechanical systems (MEMS/NEMS). Individual SiGe/Si microtubes show typical Euler buckling when the compressive load is larger than the critical load. The experiments show that SiGe/Si microtubes rolled-up by 1.6 turns have similar mechanical stability to ideal seamless tubes, though the former ones contain seams on the walls.},
