Open Positions

Several Openings at The Multi-Scale Robotics Lab at the Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Systems at ETH Zurich

Scientist, and Technical Staff Levels

The Multi-Scale Robotics Lab at the Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Systems has immediate openings at scientist and technical staff levels. We are looking for individuals who can work with and/or support our Linux based C and C++ robot programming environment for the control and sensing of micro and nano robotic devices and magnetic catheters in biomedical applications. A background in software architectures, Linux, C, C++, computer vision, modeling, planning, bioengineering, and/or controls is beneficial. There is an opportunity to contribute to a variety of research projects related to micro and nanorobotics and biomedical devices, many of which are based on a wirelessly guided magnetic approach. Projects related to ophthalmology, cardiology, neurology and urology are ongoing.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in an academic career or in being involved with one of the startup companies that have come out of our lab. By working in our lab, you will be exposed to robotics applications related to microtechnology, nanotechnology, biology, and biomedical engineering. Several people have left our lab for careers in academia over the past decade, helped at least somewhat by the experience they gained with us. Others have gone on to industry or started their own company based on the technology they have developed as a lab member.

While a yearly contract is offered, funding for the positions is assured for several years. Salaries at ETH are competitive, and Zurich is a nice city to live in. Knowledge of German is useful, but not necessary. Positions will be filled as excellent candidates are found.
