Sandro was born in Lucerne, Switzerland in July 1984. He studied Nano Sciences at the University of Basel with a focus on experimental quantum physics and biophysics. For his Master's thesis he spent nine months at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA, to work on the development of a low-field Overhauser enhanced MRI system. He received his M. S. in Nano Sciences Major Physics from the University of Basel in July 2009. He joined the lab in April 2010 to work on wireless control systems using magnetic fields.
