Ruedi Borer

Ruedi Borer finished an apprenticeship as a machinist in 1970, and went to work as an industrial planner dealing with conveyor lines and ready-made workspaces. After this, he worked as a technician in various manufacturing companies. While working in this area he extended his knowledge to electro-technology and electronics. In 1979 he began a degree at the University of Applied Science, Zurich in electrical engineering. During this time he joined Prof. G. Schweitzer at ETH in 1981 as an electronic technician. Upon finishing a degree as Dipl. El. Ing. HTL, he became a member of the newly formed Institute of Robotics where his duties extended to various tasks regarding the Institute's infrastructure, security, and planning. He remained at ETH for the founding of the new IRIS in 2002. His current interests lie in the development of prototype circuits and systems in the area of robotics.
