Juho Pokki

Juho Pokki was born in Vaasa, Finland in 1985. He received his bachelor's degree in bioinformation technology and electronics from Aalto University School of Science and Technology (Helsinki University of Technology), Finland in 2008. By that time, he had also worked in the Finnish Diabetic Nephropathy Study of Folkhälsan Institute of Genetics and Helsinki University Central Hospital for 12 months. In 2009, he began his studies in Biomedical Engineering at ETH Zurich. In the same year, he joined the Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Systems (IRIS) at ETH. In his master thesis in IRIS, he worked on characterization of retinal vessel puncture forces to help provide design specifications for intraocular microrobots. Furthermore, he fabricated nanostructures for drug delivery and sensing applications of the microrobots. After obtaining his master's degree at ETH in 2010, he started as a PhD student in IRIS. His research interests are bionanomachines, biomedical micro- and nanorobots, micro- and nanofabrication, and electroplating.
